Learning indigenous language ‘shattered my understanding’: Activist says | CBC News

“[Universities] are constantly seeking these credentials that are
coming from these institutions that our folks don’t even have access to …
so the problem isn’t even implementing these courses and having the
resources, it’s how we’re structuring who is teaching them and who we’re
valuing the knowledge from. We’re basically showing contempt for
Indigenous knowledge keeping and we’re only focusing on the
post-secondary side…”

magpiestudio:

My most recent zine is a 1-page-fold love letter to the trans community, & it’s free for you to download, print & share here. I’ll have some physical copies on my table at MICExpo 2017, too.

Sigil text was gathered from friends & strangers (thank you!), sigils were created by me using my own method. All of these can be used regardless of gender identity & you can copy them onto whatever you need, I just ask that you don’t sell them (or this zine). Stay strong.

author: so in this world there are immortal fire-breathing dragons

everybody: cool!

author: also half the army is female

everybody: um, isn’t that a bit unrealistic? :/

author: there are a dozen+ sentient species including orcs, elves, and entities that should be dead but somehow aren’t

everybody: cool!

author: and a lot of them are poc

everybody: how does that? make sense?

author: alright, so people can pretty much rewrite the laws of reality by thinking about it hard enough, so anything is possible

everybody: makes sense

author: also several of the characters are not straight

everybody: what else even is there?

author: There are scientific advancements that allow people to live on other planets and there are cool robots that we can ride in.

everybody: yaaaas.

author: there are also several disabled characters and some of them have chronic illnesses.

everybody: but, like, shouldn’t they be fixed?
