Sometimes I think I’m a bad devotee.

Because I don’t tend my altar as much as much as I’d like and it gathers dust. Because I barely ever remember to give offerings and when I do, I forget to dispose of them before they’re crusty and gross.

But then I started keeping track of how often I think about my gods. How often I’ll hear a statement and immediately think “___, probably.” (thanks incorrectedda). How often I’ll se artwork and start flailing about how it Looks Like Them or how it reminds me of a piece of lore. Most importantly, how often I look at my actions and behavior and think “I hope ___ is proud of me” or even “this isn’t who ___ would want me to be”.

My gods are always with me, on my mind and in my heart, and I think that’s what really matters.

The Mentor does not teach, but reveals. Like an optical illusion, you cannot grasp her knowledge intellectually, but must learn it through experience. Trust your instincts, and do not be reasoned into seeing what is not really there.

Simple Home Protection Jar Spell

sylvaetria:

(written for kie-the-faery-witch)

In a jar, however large you want it, layer any / some of the following:

  • sea salt
  • rosemary
  • bergamot (as in, earl gray tea)
  • cinnamon
  • crumbled up bay leaves
  • mint
  • basil
  • thyme
  • dill seeds
  • marjoram
  • cumin
  • garlic flakes / powder
  • black peppercorns (or just black pepper)

As you add each layer to the jar, focus deeply on your intent and pour that energy into the herbs. If you’d like, repeat a phrase to bring protection to your home and all those in it. (Don’t tell anyone else that phrase.) If you want to lock this spell on to anyone specific in the household, add some of their hair or other personal materials; otherwise, just state whomever is in the home at any given time is protected from harm. Feel free to also add any other items you associate with protection and safety. Tie a black ribbon or string near the neck / top of the jar to tie it off, and keep it on a windowsill in a common area of your home. (If you can – otherwise, wherever you can keep it safely is good).

Note: If a jar doesn’t work for you, a wee sachet is a good alternative.

Cards of the Week!

Two Kings- wow! That means that control is going to be a big theme these next couple days. The King of Coins signifies a need to acknowledge what you have already and the plan you’re working off of. The King of Wands/Clubs asks for determination and good spirit in action. So keep on going this week, and try to find balance between stability & planning and motivation & pushing through.

However, our oracle card issues a warning- if you don’t give yourself a healthy degree of detachment, you’ll lose sight of reality. Don’t drive yourself crazy with all the work, or compare your ultimate goal against your WIP, give you and your projects space to breathe.
