I’m building a willow coracle. I have made a hazel coracle and currachs in the past and used a heavy duty canvas to cover them. Would anyone have information on using or where to get heavy duty hemp canvas or nettle fabric?

Starting off on this trip, I wasn’t sure whether it would be too windy outside to get to Millcove. The wind was much fresher in the inner harbour, and i shook out two reefs as i progressed. The sea, as often in a south easterly, was fairly sloppy. However, beating with the tide got me to my destination, all be it with the occasional dousing of spray.

It was so hot that day that I went for a swim. A first for me, but if this weather keeps up it won’t be the last! Oh and as you may have already guessed, my camera is waterproof.
