August 27th: The twin hills of the island of Hoy seen from Mainland Orkney, looking across the loch of Stenness. This promontory feature is half of what looks like an ancient fish trap or harbour type arrangement – I can never find any information about it and it always makes me wonder.Â
Just some gorgeous wool I bought because *the colooooouuuurs*!! ❤ I now must fulfil my ambitions to learn to crochet so I can have some of this yumminess in a blanket 🙂Â
The tiny villages in South Ronaldsay (the most southern island of the archipelago where I am staying at the moment) are all well off the beaten track and take some seeking out. This little shoreside settlement is called Herston and really has to win the prize for best kept remote island gardens 🙂Â

Some views around St. Margaret’s Hope, or The Hope, or The Hup if you’ve really gone native. Such a quiet little town. This is where the ferry I get (which is cheaper and takes an hour less) comes in and departs.Â
Enjoying my last day with Hector for a few weeks. We stayed overnight at a lovely little “shepherd’s hut” in Brora which is in Sutherland, Scotland. Hector will be joining me up north, half way through September. I will miss him and I hope he doesn’t forget me!
