đŸŒ± – Book of Shadows update! / Beginner’s witch tip.

Yesterday I went on my first foraging trip, so I drew up a page for my little hike. I realised I didn’t quite have all the things that a forager should have, but I made do. I had 1 gardening glove (unfortunately I couldn’t find the other!), a pair of scissors, a few things to hold the contents of my findings in, my phone, a rucksack, and my trusty pair of walking boots.

So, if you’re a witch who is struggling to find things to fill your book of shadows with, then consider documenting your foraging/other witchy activities.

Does anyone else have more than 1 pendulum? I have two, and am unsure of why i got the other, only that it called to me

I’m going to assume it’s like collecting tarot decks- one is better at particular topics than the other, and might have different advantages in different situation.

Am I the only one who thought “you need two to use them as nunchucks when the Whispy Motherfuckers clutter up your house”?

Everyone I’ve ever met is welcome for this.

Cotilla (stays) del siglo 18.

vestireltiempo:

replied to your photo “Sketching a comic about wanting a summer monster romance.”

You are getting so good, I love it! Your lines are so confident!

Thank you!

I have a ramble. It changed everything.

There was a sudden and rapid shift in quality trajectory when I stopped considering myself an artist or illustrator and settled comfortably into the cloud of “cartoonist”

I hit – for far too long – “does this person look too much like THIS PERSON?! OH STONES I’m RUINED EVERYONE LOOKS TOO SIMILAR.”

(An argument that comes up a lot in the brains of folk who draw and is rambled upon/argued about/etc. by others)

It hit me while binging through The Far Side and later eating breakfast and talking about Dracula (while this feels like an odd congruence, significant portions of my life revolve around The Far Side, waffles, and talking about Dracula) –

“All of Gary Larson’s cows look the same. If he draws a person in glasses, they all look the same. I love it.”

The question of “what is art” and “what are the differences between art and illustration” and “is this good enough” with a chaser of “Am I good enough?” have plagued me for years and kept me from moving.

And then, suddenly, I don’t care.

I drank coffee, looked my friend directly in the eyes, and said

“What is the difference between an artist, an illustrator, and a cartoonist? A cartoonist is the least likely to be asked this question with a demand for a proper answer.”

All of the eyes I draw are roughly the same, the features are all damn near copies of each other, hair is nearly exclusively BIG, right way down the line.

Maybe it’ll shift over the years. Maybe I’ll be drawing the same laughing skull or the same happily-squinting-bat on invoices when folk ask for a doodle on invoices. I don’t care.

This is a big ramble and I’m a hair sorry for it’s length but it was like a thunderstorm cracking open the dryness of a too-hot summer to when this hit.

Also the waffles over breakfast were absolutely perfect.
